My previous portfolio was active during 2007–2009. It’s goal was to provide a straightforward glimpse of myself and my past work, reflecting both my personality and passion.

From a visual design perspective, colors were chosen to reflect warmth and introspection (I’ve always viewed shades of brown as the color of my personality). Meanwhile, the informal and joking phrasing of content let another side of myself shine through. This iteration of my portfolio was successful in defining the basic color and typographic choices that I still use to define myself across my resume and web presences (my “branding,” I suppose you’d say).

In retrospect, though, I question the design choices I made regarding the structure of my portfolio sections. A viewer could see only one portfolio piece at a time, with only next/previous navigation linking one piece of my portfolio to the next. Since there was no overall list of all of my portfolio pieces available for view, it was difficult to see the breadth of my work or quickly find a specific piece. This issue, combined with other ideas that I wanted to explore, led to the current incremental design upgrade that you see now.
